A Bullhead City, AZ online seller can fund a large stock order with inventory financing, cover ad spend and fulfillment until payouts arrive with a line of credit, and use revenue-based funding when marketplace payouts are steady. Wheatland Finance passes the request to funding partners, which read the payout records and decide.
A Wheatland Finance article with invented figures for an online seller's stock order, ad budget and payout-based funding.
Inventory orders ahead of a sales peak
A sales peak an online seller plans for, such as a product launch, a scheduled promotion or a wholesale order, needs stock on hand before the first sale. Suppliers often want a deposit when the order is placed and the balance before the goods ship, weeks before the marketplace pays out.
Illustration only, invented figures: 2,400 units at $11.25 each make a $27,000 order. The supplier takes a 30% deposit, $8,100, and the $18,900 balance at shipping. A partner that advances 70% of the order cost puts up $18,900, which covers the balance; the seller's own cash covers the deposit.
The cost depends on how long the stock takes to sell. At an annual rate of 13.5%, each month the $18,900 stays out adds about $212.63 of interest, so a launch that sells through two months later than planned costs about $425.25 more. A seller can test the order size against a slower sell-through before placing it.
Sellers in this trade run small. Mohave County, AZ's 38 electronic shopping and mail-order establishments with paid employees had 176 employees in 2023, about 4.6 per establishment (CBP, NAICS 454110; our arithmetic). With a staff that size, one stock order can tie up most of the cash on hand.
Ad spend and fulfillment costs in Bullhead City, AZ
Ads are paid when they run; the sales they bring in are paid out by the marketplace on its own schedule, often after a reserve period. Fulfillment fees from a warehouse or a third-party logistics service arrive monthly, whatever the payout date.
Illustration only, invented figures: $6,000 of monthly ad spend that returns 3.5 times its cost brings in $21,000 of sales. If 1,800 orders cost $4.10 each to pick and ship, fulfillment adds $7,380. Drawing $13,380 on a line of credit for the 19 days until the payout clears costs about $88.80 in interest at an annual rate of 12.75%.
A store run by its owner alone is one form of self-employment. In Bullhead City, AZ, 1,302 of 14,476 civilian employed residents 16 and over, or 9.0% with a margin of error of 1.9 points, worked for themselves (ACS 2020-2024).
Revenue-based funding for online sellers
Revenue-based funding is an advance against future payouts. The provider pays a lump sum, then collects a fixed share of each payout until an agreed total is reached. It is not a loan, and the pace of collection follows sales: it speeds up in strong months and slows in weak ones.
For this invented advance, $30,000 multiplied by a 1.14 factor gives $34,200 to be collected. At 9% of $38,000 in monthly payouts, the provider collects $3,420 a month, and the total is reached in about 10 months. If payouts drop to $28,500, the monthly amount falls to $2,565 and collection stretches to about 13.3 months.
The total collected stays the same in both cases, so the cost per month falls when collection stretches.
The fixed share comes out of every payout before the seller sees it, so it also comes out of the money meant for the next stock order. A product with thin margins can end up with too little left to restock; a seller can check that by taking the share out of a month of recent payouts and seeing what remains. The merchant cash advance page works through factor and holdback arithmetic in more detail.
